Ladle Crane

The overhead ladle crane is a double-girder metallurgical crane for steelmaking. It withstands thermal radiation above 1000°C and can operate in dusty and smoky environments. It is equipped with high-temperature resistant motors, electrical equipment, steel wire ropes and brakes. It is designed to transport molten steel ladles between smelting units for steel pouring and slag transfer.

Features and benefits

01 Main Girder

The main beam serves as the main load-bearing structure of the double-girder ladle overhead crane. It adopts a welded box solid web structure, mostly with offset rail box design. The crane is normally equipped with two parallel main beams, and a four-beam structure is optional. Thermal insulation devices are installed under the main beams, matching the heat-insulated driver’s cabin for high-temperature smelting conditions. Pre-camber is preset on the main beam to reduce deflection under heavy loads. Equipped with maintenance walkways and safety guardrails, it ensures safe daily inspection and maintenance.

02 End Carriage

The end carriage is a transverse load-bearing component installed at both ends of the overhead ladle crane bridge. It connects the two main beams to keep parallel arrangement and ensure overall structural stability of the crane bridge. Travelling wheels are mounted at the bottom of the end carriage. Driven by the travelling mechanism, the whole crane moves smoothly along the track to complete normal operation.

03 Hoist Trolley Winding Mechanism

Adopting a double-drum and double-mechanism structure, the crane is equipped with two independent winch systems for main lifting and auxiliary lifting. Matched with special ladle lifting tools, it realizes lifting and moving of heavy loads. The main lifting mechanism is fitted with a large-tonnage load-bearing drum to bear the full weight of molten steel ladles during transportation. It adopts dual brakes and dual brake wheels to improve operational safety. The auxiliary lifting mechanism is a small-tonnage auxiliary winch, mainly used for ladle flipping, steel pouring and residue cleaning, cooperating with the main hook to complete the pouring process.
